Cross Country Cougar Challenge 08 Sept 2006.

The Cougar Challenge was hosted by Kearns High School, and included 5 high schools; Murray, Kearns, Payson, Lone Peak and Waterford.

It was a nice facility at the Oquirrh Park adjacent to the Olympic Speedskating Oval. And except for a faulty starter's gun and a locked gate on the course that the JV runners had to hop, a really well-run and fun spectator event.

Allie (freshman) placed first in the Girls JV race!

Allie's time puts her on the varsity squad for the next meet, and she hopes to letter (must run two varsity events).

Here's a prediction: Allie will be really good if she decides to go for it, even with the disadvantage of my genes!

This smaller, out-of-focus photo shows the margin of Allie's vistory. The second place girl, who ran a good race, is the person about 50 yards back by the goal. Incidentally, Allison knows her from violin. Small world.

Julie and I agree that this was a fun sport to watch because you don't have wacky parents yelling at refs. Everyone supports one another and all appreciate a good effort.

Signed, Proud Papa
